For a limited time this school holiday, when your child is prescribed custom insoles, parents can receive their own pair at 50% off.
This allows both child and parent to benefit from improved support, alignment, and comfort, especially if you’ve been experiencing foot fatigue, discomfort, or long-standing lower limb concerns.
Is Your Child Experiencing Any of These Signs?
Parents often notice early warning signs before a formal diagnosis is made. These may include:
- Frequent tripping, falling, or “clumsiness”
- Walking with feet turning inward or outward
- Flat feet or visibly collapsed arches
- Uneven walking pattern or limping
- Knee or hip misalignment during walking
- Heel pain during or after activity (especially in active children)
- Avoidance of sports or reduced activity levels
- Toe walking or abnormal gait habits
- Complaints of tired legs or discomfort after walking short distances
- Visible deformities in foot shape or alignment
Our paediatric team provides thorough, evidence-based assessments to identify the root cause of your child’s symptoms, not just the surface-level concerns, our team is here to help.
Small Concerns Can Become Long-Term Mobility Issues
Many paediatric foot and gait concerns start subtly such as frequent tripping, uneven walking patterns, or foot posture changes.
While some variations are part of normal development, others may persist if left unassessed, potentially affecting balance, posture, and movement efficiency over time.
Early evaluation helps identify whether intervention is needed.
What Could Be Contributing to Your Child’s Symptoms?
Children’s foot and lower limb issues often present subtly in early stages. These may be related to growth, alignment, biomechanics, or developmental variations. Understanding the underlying cause is the first step toward effective care.
- Developmental growth patterns (bones and muscles maturing at different rates)
- Genetic or congenital conditions (e.g. clubfoot, vertical talus)
- Biomechanical imbalances affecting gait and posture
- Joint laxity or hypermobility
- Muscle weakness or poor motor control
- Improper foot alignment during growth
- Excess load or repetitive strain from activity or sport
- Neurological or developmental conditions affecting movement patterns

Why Early Intervention Matters
Early intervention is often recommended because a child’s musculoskeletal system is still highly adaptable.
If left unaddressed these biomechanical issues during growth can result in:
- Walking inefficiency
- Persistent gait issues
- Worsening posture imbalance
- Reduced coordination or confidence
- Compensatory joint stress
Priortise your child's lower limb health while they are still young and significantly improve outcomes.

I had a few podiatry treatments done out of 10. The male and female nurses are very good. 25/2 nurse Rochelle recommended the tape on me after the treatment which I felt extremely wonderful. I felt my knees like nothing had happened. Walking very comfortably with the tape after treatment.

I visited East Podiatry in Novena about three months ago as I was experiencing sharp pain on my left heel. It was affecting my running and walking. During my first consultation, Jordan accurately diagnosed the condition as Achilles tendonitis and recommended a shock wave therapy.. fast forward that three months later, the pain has dissipated. I am now able to resume my running. Jordan is very helpful and attuned to his patients' needs. I am a barefoot runner and he acknowledged that switching to regular shoes will not do me any good. I appreciate his frank advice. He also recommended exercises to help me with strengthening my toes and plantar muscles so as to prevent the Achilles tendonitis from recurring. His assistant, Ashley performed the shock wave treatment with precision and skills, as well. Overall, I am very happy with the treatment and service.

NewGreat experience at East Coast Podiatry (Orchard)! Had a persistent nail fungus issue over the last couple of years and it was solved so quickly and efficiently with the team. My podiatrist - Ms Peggy explained and assessed my condition in great detail, and recommended me the follow up actions required to get the issue all treated. Was an overall superb and pleasant treatment experience 🙂

Our 6-year-old son had very severe in-toeing when we first visited Dr. Michael in October 2024. We’re incredibly thankful for his expertise—after just 8 months of treatment, our son is now very close to having an ideal foot structure.
What we appreciated most was the all-in-one pricing—it covered everything from braces to follow-ups, making the treatment both convenient and great value for money. The clinic’s location in Orchard is also a big plus for accessibility. Highly recommend Dr. Michael, especially for concerned parents dealing with pediatric foot issues!

Paediatric Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Get The Answers You Need
Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions you may have about Heel Pain.
If you still can’t find the answer you’re looking for, just contact us
How do I know if my child has flat foot?
Your child will not have an arch while standing, and the middle portion of their foot may bulge inwards and show signs of collapse. Their big toe joint may also begin to drift closer to the lesser toes, causing a larger bulge at the big toe joint. This is a noticeable sign of early juvenile bunion formation.
At what age do arches develop?
Children’s foot arches typically show around 2 – 3 years of age. If you suspect your child has congenital flat feet, schedule a consultation with one of our podiatrists for a full evaluation as soon as possible.
Can we wait and see if In-toeing/Out-toeing will resolve on its own?
Yes, it is generally safe to wait and see if in-toeing/out-toeing will resolve on its own. However, it is important to monitor your child’s development and consult a podiatrist if the condition does not improve or persist. If the condition continue to persist or worsen, it is not advisable to utilise this “wait and see” method” as this will delay the window of opportunity for intervention. In-toeing may then become more difficult and time-consuming to resolve at a later stage.
Will paediatric devices cause future gait problems for my child?
Paediatric devices should not cause future gait problems if they are well made by a certified clinical specialist like a podiatrist. Proper and fully customised devices will help improve gait patterns and reduce the risk of future joint conditions such as bunions or out-toeing.
Will exercises help stop my child from In-toeing/Out-toeing?
This depends on the cause of the out-toeing. Hip-derived conditions requires a combined therapy approach to achieve the best results which includes targeted exercises and devices. Exercises help relax and strengthen the hip structure while devices realign the lower limbs.
On the other hand, out-toeing that arises due to conditions such as metatarsus adductus and external tibial torsion cannot be resolved with simple exercises or massages. If your child is showing signs of out-toeing outside of the normal age range, it is best to seek a professional opinion.
