I had a few podiatry treatments done out of 10. The male and female nurses are very good. 25/2 nurse Rochelle recommended the tape on me after the treatment which I felt extremely wonderful. I felt my knees like nothing had happened. Walking very comfortably with the tape after treatment.

I visited East Podiatry in Novena about three months ago as I was experiencing sharp pain on my left heel. It was affecting my running and walking. During my first consultation, Jordan accurately diagnosed the condition as Achilles tendonitis and recommended a shock wave therapy.. fast forward that three months later, the pain has dissipated. I am now able to resume my running. Jordan is very helpful and attuned to his patients' needs. I am a barefoot runner and he acknowledged that switching to regular shoes will not do me any good. I appreciate his frank advice. He also recommended exercises to help me with strengthening my toes and plantar muscles so as to prevent the Achilles tendonitis from recurring. His assistant, Ashley performed the shock wave treatment with precision and skills, as well. Overall, I am very happy with the treatment and service.

NewGreat experience at East Coast Podiatry (Orchard)! Had a persistent nail fungus issue over the last couple of years and it was solved so quickly and efficiently with the team. My podiatrist - Ms Peggy explained and assessed my condition in great detail, and recommended me the follow up actions required to get the issue all treated. Was an overall superb and pleasant treatment experience 🙂

Our 6-year-old son had very severe in-toeing when we first visited Dr. Michael in October 2024. We’re incredibly thankful for his expertise—after just 8 months of treatment, our son is now very close to having an ideal foot structure.
What we appreciated most was the all-in-one pricing—it covered everything from braces to follow-ups, making the treatment both convenient and great value for money. The clinic’s location in Orchard is also a big plus for accessibility. Highly recommend Dr. Michael, especially for concerned parents dealing with pediatric foot issues!

Why Warts Are So Persistent
Plantar warts are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) entering through tiny cuts in the skin. Because they grow on the soles of your feet, constant pressure pushes them inward, often making them feel like you are walking on a sharp stone.
Many over the counter treatments only freeze the surface. To truly eliminate a wart, your body’s immune system needs to be triggered to recognize and fight the virus from within.
Without proper care, it may begin to interfere with simple activities like walking or standing. At East Coast Podiatry, we do a comprehensive assessment to determine the condition of the wart and the most appropriate effective method of removal.
Symptoms Checklist: Is It a Wart or a Corn?
It is easy to mistake a wart for a common corn or callus. Look for these specific signs:
- Small, fleshy, or grainy growths on the bottom of the foot.
- Tiny black pinpoints (often called wart seeds) which are actually clotted blood vessels.
- Pain when the growth is squeezed from the sides rather than pressed directly.
- Interrupted skin lines that seem to wrap around the growth.
Warts are contagious and can spread to other parts of your foot or to your family members. Professional removal is the best way to stop the cycle.
Please check with our podiatrists if you experience any of the symptoms above.
Managing and Preventing Plantar Warts
The HPV virus is contracted through direct contact or indirect contact with contaminated surfaces. Because the virus loves warm, damp environments, these are the primary "hot zones" - public showers and changing rooms, swimming pool decks, shared footwear, and household floors.
While many home “treatments” found online to manage the condition, such as duct tape, vinegar, or other household items, are popular suggestions, they often lack scientific support and may even irritate the skin without addressing the root of the issue.
For more targeted care, podiatrists offer a range of methods specifically designed to address plantar warts. These include:
- Swift® Microwave Therapy
- Cryotherapy
- Wart Needling
- Topical Application
- Curettage
- Cautery
- Laser Technology
How We Help You Recover From Plantar Warts
Medical Grade Solutions for Stubborn Warts
We use the latest technology to ensure your treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible.
Options may include:
Swift® Microwave Therapy
A unique therapy that rapidly heats the affected tissue using microwave energy, treating the physical lesion while also stimulating the body’s natural immune system to clear the infection from within.
Backed by over 500,000 successful treatments and clinically proven clearance rates up to 85%.
Cryotherapy
A method that uses extreme cold, often through liquid nitrogen, to “freeze” off the wart, gradually eliminating the wart tissue.
Wart Needling
This process involves pricking the wart repeatedly with a hollow needle to activate the body’s immune system, encouraging it to target the virus.
Curettage
A minor surgical procedure in which the wart is carefully scraped or cut out, physically removing the growth from the skin.

Why You Should Not Ignore Plantar Wart
What Happens If Plantar Warts Are Left Untreated?
Over time:
- Pain becomes more frequent and severe
- Warts might persist for months or years
- Skin might thicken and cause more discomfort
- Risk of spreading, covering a larger area on the sole
- Strain and interference with movement if it becomes severe
- Potential risk of transmission to other people
Early intervention significantly improves outcomes and reduces recovery time.

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions you may have about Plantar Warts.
If you still can’t find the answer you’re looking for, just contact us
What are plantar warts?
Plantar warts, commonly called verrucae, are small, rough growths that form on the soles of the feet. These warts develop when the human papillomavirus (HPV) enters through tiny cuts or breaks in the skin, causing a localised infection. While they’re generally harmless, plantar warts can become uncomfortable, especially when pressure is applied during activities like walking or standing.
What are the symptoms of plantar warts?
Plantar warts typically appear as small, rough growths on the sole of the foot, often developing a hard, callus-like layer over the wart due to pressure. They often contain tiny black specks, known as “wart seeds”, which are small, dried blood clots within the wart. These growths can cause pain or tenderness, especially when standing or walking, and commonly appear on the balls of the feet, heels, or around the toes. In some cases, multiple plantar warts may cluster together, forming a larger, mosaic-like patch that intensifies discomfort.
How do plantar warts affect the way I move?
Plantar warts can be painful, especially when pressure is applied, causing many to adjust their posture or gait to avoid discomfort. These subtle changes in how you stand, walk, or run might help relieve pain in the short term, but they can disrupt your natural movement patterns over time. This altered movement may place added stress on the muscles, tissues, and joints in your feet and ankles, potentially leading to additional pain, discomfort, or strain.
Are plantar warts contagious?
Yes, they are contagious and can spread through direct contact with the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the cause of plantar warts. Certain strains of HPV lead to these growths, spreading through skin contact or by sharing personal items like shoes, socks, and towels. If you have a plantar wart, it is possible to transfer the virus to other parts of your body by touching the wart and then another area of skin. HPV can also spread through infected surfaces, especially in warm or damp environments. To reduce the risk, it is advisable to wear shoes or flip-flops in communal areas such as gyms, public pools, saunas, steam rooms, and other public spaces.
How do you remove a plantar wart?
While plantar warts might sometimes go away on their own as the immune system fights off the virus, many people seek help from a podiatrist due to the discomfort these warts can cause. Podiatrists often recommend methods such as cryotherapy and swift® microwave therapy for plantar wart removal. Cryotherapy involves applying extreme cold, typically with liquid nitrogen, to freeze and destroy the wart tissue. On the other hand, swift® microwave therapy rapidly heats the affected tissue in seconds using microwave energy, not only treating the physical lesion but also stimulating the body’s natural immune system to clear the infection from within. Both approaches are targeted and can help reduce the wart’s hold on the skin, offering relief and minimising the chance of recurrence.
